A bird and a tree: by Shihwa Ryu

Standing in the woods where hardly does the wind blow,

Although trees are tranquil without any movement,

Only does a branch tremble.

That is because a bird

flew and sat on the branch.

Among ordinary people with anything special happening,

The reason why only do I wobble

is that you flew and sat on me. 

Though the bird builds its home on the branch

and the tree does not tremble any longer,

the reason why only do I wobble endlessly

is because you did not build your home inside me.
