What do you value in your life?

What do you value in your life?

We often think about what we weigh most in our lives, so-called "life goals".

It boosts our purpose to strive for something valuable based on an individual's point of view.

It motivates us to fight tooth and nail against what makes us feel defeated and discouraged.

Therefore, life values are a crucial premise for a meaningful way of handling unpredictable and sometimes demanding life happenings. We all can see the lines of best-seller books motivating us to have ultimate goals, which can be dull cliche for quite a lot of people who try to make a difference in one's lifestyles.

No matter how often we think about our life values, it becomes vain and futile unless we live life as we seek to do. That's why we need to figure out what "I", not someone who is influential in one's life (such as an idol, mentor, parents, etc), want to concentrate on genuinely. And it is necessary to take the following step, which is taking an action to make it real.

Speaking of life goals, I've been longing for a life that can affect people's lives by inspiring and consoling them through my life stories themselves. To make it specific, if I want to be a motivating teacher or friend, I needed to not only intone a zealous life plan but most importantly also step forward with actual verbal and behavioral minor and major changes in my life.

One day, I was so blue and hopeless without any clear reasons that I can articulate. But I had to fulfill my responsibility to teach students. As I got to the class and waited for twenty or more minutes, nobody except one student arrived at the class without any prior notification. Other than the mood I had on that very day, it kind of annoyed me by triggering negative emotions such as being disregarded and disappointed.

Emotions remained, I had decided just to share my life stories in childhood with the male student who was sitting straight and being diligent as usual and told him about a few ups and especially downs quite frankly without any intentions or anticipation.

In fact, he had always been quiet and timid during class although he got much better as time goes by in presenting his opinions or answering my questions.  But astonishingly, he started to recount what he has experienced with despair and struggles concerning family issues, life goals, and his personality, saying that he was surprised and felt that our lives had so many things in common. It was the first time for him to be honest in his lifetime and I felt deeply honored and could give some consolation and advice, solely hoping for him to have courage and feel worthy as he deserves.

What a lovely and grateful conversation it was!

I couldn't appreciate more than what I felt at that moment with awe of facing the unpredictable beauty of life and relationship.

On top of that, I realized that living life as my true instinct purpose leads and is actualized makes me feel alive and touched. I had forgotten what I sincerely weigh in my time and that was owing to the unknown lows I consistently and unconsciously felt.

The bottom line is...

I want to make use of time not to be in a rush in the tornado of what I "should" do, but to have a clear direction in what I say, enjoy, and behave.

Again, what I weigh is

1. To make people feel worthy and beloved through my words and dedication.

2. To do my best in what I pursue following my teaching philosophy and stance.

3. To feel grateful for what I currently have and look forward to what I will face in the future.

That means I will take action to make them real such as

1. Approach people surrounding me and be willing to listen to and understand them

2. Concentrate on what I need to be more professional in and study with my best efforts

3. Accept who I am that has been formed with all my mistakes, failures, struggles and challenges, changes, achievements - literally all steps I have put so far.

Easier said than done!

But I'll keep trying not to be distracted by what prevents me from living full of verve and appreciation.
